Lens to Life

melbourne wedding – Michael & Valerie

Michael and Valerie were married at St Johns Greek Orthodox Church in Carlton on the 7th June 2015 with a reception following at Normanby House.  Below are some words from the bride about how they met and their big day.

Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. We met on June 7th 2013 at Federation Square in Melbourne. Michael was out with friends from work, and Valerie went along with her cousin, Aphrodite, who worked with Michael.Valerie saw Michael & thought, “mmmm, he’s cute”, and Michael thought “she’s hot!”.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. The proposal took place in front of Valerie’s parent’s house, in her mum’s garden. Michael went and bought the ring that day and had planned to wait a few days to propose, but the ring was burning a hole in his pocket, and he couldn’t wait! Michael got down on one knee and Valerie let out a few expletives, as she was shocked! But when she composed herself, she said yes, and they kissed.
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon?
A. We are going to Barcelona, Nice, Italy, Lefkada (where we will be meeting about 40 of our friends and family to continue the party!), Athens and Turkey.
Q. What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
A. We would like to start a family as soon as possible.
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. The ceremony is at St John Greek Orthodox in Carlton. This is where Valerie was christened and it is a beautiful church. The reception is being held at Normanby House. It was chosen as it looks very nice, and has a more intimate feel than other reception centres we looked at.

I am wearing red shoes, holding a red bouquet of 30 roses, and have a red and black flower hair accessory. I will be wearing silver hoops with Swarovski crystals, and a silver bangle.
