Rob & Caroline’s Gippsland Wedding was held at the beautiful RACV Inverloch Resort on Saturday 29th March 2014. Here is a little about the big day, how the bride and groom came to find each other and their future plans together. In the brides own words…
Q. When and how did you meet? And what were your first thoughts?
A. We met at the Spring Racing Carnival on Stakes Day in November 2007. Mutual friends of ours had organized a carpark with a group of friends and secretly had the intention for us to meet. I guess you could say we backed a winner that day.
Q. When and how did the proposal take place and how did you feel?
A. We both lived and worked in Amsterdam in 2009 and absolutely loved the experience. So in 2012 Rob organized for us to go to the Tulip Festival in Silvan (Dandenong Ranges). It was a fun day drinking Heineken and eating dutch delights. After a stroll through the fields of Tulips, Rob said “there’s another reason I wanted to bring you here” and dropped down on one knee. I was really surprised and overwhelmed. It was a very special day.
Q. Where are you going on your honeymoon? Please include dates of departure & return (dates are for our info only).
A. We are off to Daydream Island for a week straight after the wedding to chill out and we are planning a trip to South America later in the year (not yet booked).
Q. What are your future plans together (e.g. buying a house/starting a family)
A. Finishing renovating our home and planning our overseas adventure to South America. Then we’ll hopefully just keep discovering new places, new food, new adventures and experiences. I know our mums are hoping we add something in here about starting a family…so we’ll just say…all in good time. Haha
Q. Where is your ceremony and reception being held and why did you choose these venues?
A. We are having the ceremony on the lawns at RACV resort inverloch, with the reception in the ballroom to follow. We choose here, because we both love the water and surfing and just wanted to have our wedding somewhere along this beautiful coastline with these amazing views.
Q. What does your wedding dress look like? Please give a detailed description and also include any accessories including jewellery and shoes.
A. Mine is a very simple dress by Lisa Ho. The dress was part of her final range. I had loved this dress from afar for a while. It was the only dress I tried on and it was love at first sight. The earrings are light blue Swarovski crystal earrings from my parents (my something blue) and my veil is my sisters (something borrowed). I am wearing my gran’s old ring as my something old. My shoes are from Christian louboutin…a bit of a splash. Rob is wearing a tailored tuxedo made for today.
Q. Do you have a Theme or style to your wedding? And if so, what is it?
A. We have gone vintage style. With lots of bunting and blue. We just wanted it to feel warm and welcoming.
Q. Hair & Makeup – please describe what your hair and makeup is like and who the suppliers are.
A. Hair – Styling, Belinda (Be by Belinda) in Inverloch and colour by Emma Taylor (Spice Hair, Cowes). Make up by Ally De La Rosa – Makeup & Body Art
Q. Who is the person conducting your service?
A. Rev. Brendon Hogan
Q. Florist – what are your flowers like & who is the supplier?
A. Emma Cunningham – The Big Twig in Wonthaggi
Q. Wedding Favours & Cake – what are they like and who is the supplier?
A. The wedding favours are Maracca’s to keep with the theme of the trip to Rio and South America later in the year. Instead of a cake we are having cheese wheels purchased at the Queen Victoria Market.
Q. Transport – what mode of transport did you choose and who was the supplier?
A. Combi Van from Kerri Wright.
Q. Is there any other supplier you would specifically like to mention:
A. Danielle & Kellie from Coastal Wedding and Event Decor who did all the styling and decorations.
